Transform Learning With the New Educational Platform TechnoHub

TechnoHub is transforming into a cutting-edge educational platform! Gone are the days of accessing a static collection of technology projects. Educators will now be able to teach TechnoKids courses directly within TechnoHub. The launch is just around the corner!

This upgrade directly addresses teachers’ requests. You asked for easier access to resources, course slides to aid instruction, and integrated apps for demonstrations. Additionally, you wanted quizzes and assignments that auto-grade, along with reporting tools to track progress. We’re excited to announce that all these features are on their way. The TechnoHub upgrade will roll out in phases, beginning with a Starter License for teachers. Later on, Class, Classrooms, and School Licenses will include class management tools and student accounts. Keep reading to learn more about the enhanced TechnoHub.

You might be wondering what the new TechnoHub looks like? When you sign into your account you will see the Welcome Window. Just like now, it displays your bookshelf. From the Welcome Window you can access all the features of the educational platform.

  • Options Pane: On the right side of the window is the Options Pane which provides easy access to TechnoHub features. In the Starter License teachers can view their Bookshelf or download instructional tools from the Resource Center. However, the upcoming Class, Classrooms, and School Licenses will list additional features such as a Calendar to generate a yearly plan and Reports to monitor progress.
  • Bookshelf: The Bookshelf is in the center pane of the Welcome Window. It lists all customer courses. Tabs divide the courses into curriculum categories; Primary, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. Each Course Card includes a description, additional details, and course version. As well, there is the option to mark a course as a Favorite. The major difference from the original TechnoHub is that Google and Microsoft courses are now separate items on your shelf. Before you open a course, look for the Google or Microsoft 365 symbol to verify the version.
  • Search Bar: The search bar is above the Bookshelf tabs. Filter tools can display Favorite, new, or updated courses. Alternatively, there is a search box to type in a keyword, such as course title.
  • Profile: In the top left corner of the window is your Profile, which displays a menu of options to manage your account. This includes updating contact information, changing a password, or customizing your profile picture.
  • Notifications: At the top of the window is a bell icon, that displays notices. Announcements inform customers about updated materials, new courses, curriculum license renewals, and events. Now you will always be up-to-date!

You are going to love how simple it is to access TechnoKids courses. No longer do you need to download a project and unzip a folder to get the Teacher Guide and resources. Now everything is available directly in TechnoHub. To view a course, all you need to do is click the Course Card on the bookshelf. The TechnoKids Course opens to display the Teacher Guide. Along the right side is the Course Toolbar, which provides instant access to all instructional materials you need to teach.

  • Course Controls: In the top right corner of the window are Course Controls. This bar has tools for managing course features including adding a bookmark to the Teacher Guide, viewing the Course in full screen, turning on or off the Course Toolbar, and closing the Course to return to the Bookshelf.
  • Course Toolbar: On the right side of the window is a toolbar that provides access to Course content. The tools allow you to easily view instructional materials such as Get Started, Teacher Guide, Teacher Resources, Course Slides, Student Workbook, Student Resources, Add Resources, Curriculum Standards, Lab, and Course Bookmarks.
  • View Toolbar: Along the top of the Window, is the View toolbar. Use it to control the document sidebar, search a Teacher Guide or Student Workbook, navigate within a document, or magnify a page.
  • Document Sidebar: On the left side of the window is a pane that displays page thumbnails or a table of contents for a Teacher Guide or Student Workbook. This makes it easy to quickly jump to a place within a document.

The transformed TechnoHub educational platform provides you with everything you need to teach. All instructional materials are just one click away. Now you can read the steps for getting started, view the teacher guide, teach using course slides, display the student workbook, play a sample, download a template, or demonstrate a task in the lab… plus MUCH MORE… all from within TechnoHub! Get to know some of the Course Tools you are going to come to love!

Instantly Access the Course Tools Every Teacher Needs

‘Get Started’ offers valuable information for teaching the course. It includes guidance on using the Teacher Guide, a list of resources, an overview of the course, ideas for implementation and technology integration, and preparatory steps. For this reason, we recommend that teachers review this document first. A new feature in ‘Get Started’ is the scheduling timetable, a highly requested addition. This timetable details the instructional time needed for each assignment and sums up the classes required for each session. As well, this new section offers suggestions for customizing the course content to fit your needs.

The ‘Teacher Guide’ provides detailed instructions for teaching course assignments. You can bookmark a page to mark a place to find it quickly later. As well, the View tools make it easy to jump to a specific page, find a task, or zoom in to get a closer look.

‘Teacher Resources’ consist of essential files needed to teach the course. This includes assessment tools like reviews, skill evaluations, reflections, checklists, skill summaries, peer reviews, grading sheets, and rubrics. These files are available in Word format and can be downloaded for customization of questions or grading criteria. Additionally, resources such as parent letters, course certificates, and sample materials are also provided. All these resources can be previewed online, downloaded, and personalized as needed.

‘Course Slides’ are visual aids designed to support course instruction. Teachers can either display these slides directly in the Course Window or download them to use with Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides. The slides make it simple for students to follow along with the instruction, as they break down information, steps, and questions from each assignment into colorful, organized segments. This sought-after feature helps manage the pace of instruction, directs student focus, boosts comprehension, fosters group discussion, and enhances overall learning.

Engage Students With Practical Course Tools

The ‘Student Workbook’ contains all assignments, reviews, skill assessments, and extension activities. With the Starter License, the worksheets are available only on-screen. However, once the Class, Classrooms, and School Licenses are introduced, students will have the ability to input their answers directly into the worksheets. This highly anticipated feature will allow for automatic grading of responses and tracking of progress.

‘Student Resources’ are required files for students to complete the course. These may be templates and examples. If available, download the instructional materials and distribute to your class. When teaching, you can preview a resource to demonstrate its use directly in TechnoHub. When the Class, Classrooms, and School Licenses become available, students will be able to access their own resources to simplify teaching even more.

‘Video Tutorials’ are not available…yet. This is a highly requested feature. The new TechnoHub will finally allow TechnoKids the ability to provide step-by-step video instruction. If you already have a TechnoHub account, you will receive a notification from within the educational platform when a course has this feature added. However, if you are not a TechnoKids customer, you should join our mailing list to stay informed: https://www.technokids.com/contact.aspx

Discover Your New Favorite Course Tool in the TechnoHub Educational Platform

The ‘Add Resources’ feature enables you to enrich a TechnoKids course by uploading your own materials. This keeps everything in one place. While every TechnoKids course provides all the essential resources for teaching, you might want to add a personal touch. For example, you could add a supplementary lesson, quiz, or video.

The ‘Curriculum Standards’ feature provides a comprehensive list of international curriculum standards for the TechnoKids course. Previously, individual correlation documents summarized these standards, but you requested a more user-friendly solution. Now, each TechnoKids assignment, skill review, and extension activity is aligned with ISTE, Common Core, CSTA, and Bloom’s Taxonomy. Teachers can click on any assignment heading in the Teacher Guide to view the relevant standards. Unsure about a code? Simply click on it to read a description. Additionally, a summary of all the course standards is available in a single, easy-to-read table. This ensures that your lessons effectively target learning goals.

The ‘Lab’ feature provides a frame within the TechnoHub educational platform that opens applications directly. Currently, Lab supports Scratch Jr., Scratch, HTML, and Bot Libre, with plans to include Python and other applications soon. This feature allows you to keep the Teacher Guide or Course Slides open in the left frame while the software runs in the right pane, making demonstrations simpler and helping students follow along with ease. Additionally, you can quickly access Teacher Resources, such as sample programs, download them, and open them in the Lab. Opening and closing Labs is as simple as clicking the tool.

‘Course Bookmarks’ let you mark specific locations in a Teacher Guide or Student Workbook, so you can easily return to them later. Use bookmarks to remember where you left off in a lesson or to quickly navigate to a step you want to highlight. You can also add bookmarks for different classes to keep everything organized.

In summary, the transformed TechnoHub educational platform offers teachers everything they need to teach digital literacy and coding skills. Contact TechnoKids to learn more.
